It has been terrific to have students return to Karonga over the past 2 weeks. We now have 80% attending on-site, with others accounted for but with significant health needs, or convalescence preventing them from returning at this stage. The Department of Education recently completed a ventilation audit of all teaching spaces around our school, and supplied Air purifiers to classrooms in the older sections to support students returning to on-site learning.
Although we could not hold our Graduation at the Epping Club this year, we were very pleased with the virtual turn-out for our Zoom Graduation last Thursday. The students were spoken about with love and care by their families – fathers, mothers and brothers making speeches on their behalf, and slideshows of student photographs through the ages, and staff tributes, were well received. Deliveries of flowers, cupcakes and graduation bears were arranged throughout the day- and even an evening meal of choice prior to the presentation itself. Congratulations to George, John and Jaehyun as you move on to other vocational placements at the end of the term.
We have 8 new Kindy students starting with us over the next few months. Three of them will start next week (they have been waiting months to join us!) and 5 in 2022. We have been holding zoom orientation chats, but as soon as we are able to we will have meetings and tours on-site.
Today we have had the Karonga School Director, and the Executive Director visit us. It is with pride that I have shown them around our lovely school and shared an understanding of our special students.
Warm regards
Ruth Rogers
Principal
What an amazing evening it was!
Last term has been such an unusual term for all of us. But we went ahead and had our graduation virtually this year to make it as a special event for our graduates.
This year’s graduation event was held on Thursday evening 21st October 2021 with 38 attendees to farewell George, Jaehyun and John. It is a big number for our school! We would like to congratulate all of Year 12 graduates of 2021.
The evening was full of joy, celebration and emotions. Our Principal, Ruth Rogers, gave a beautiful speech for the students and thoughtful messages from Karonga staff members made the evening. Each family and Teachers who have thought our graduates over the year, was given the opportunity to share their achievements and journey at Karonga. Some of the parent’s speeches made us a little teary. The event was fantastic and we wish all the graduates all the best for the years to come.
We would like to thank our Graduation committee for their persistent support and organised bears, photo books, some decorations, cupcakes, balloons, flowers and the student's choice of meal which was delivered that afternoon by the Karonga staff members. We acknowledge P&C for their ongoing support and funding’s for Cupcakes and meals this year for which is much appreciated by all.

We look forward to celebrate 2022 graduation at Epping club next year.
Until next time,
Kamaldeep Lamba

We are back! In week 3, the students in Room 3 returned to school after more than a term away from being on-site at school. All of the staff at Karonga have missed seeing the students during the period of ‘home learning’ and we are so happy to be back together again. This term we also welcome Jack to Room 3. He joins Amy, Elijah, Brendan, Lachlan and Jayden.
Since we have returned, the students in Room 3 have enjoyed getting out in the beautiful sunshine by doing lots of activities outside. Amy and Elijah explored the different smells of all of the various herbs and vegetables that are planted in the garden beds. They worked together with students from some of the other classes to use watering cans to water the herbs and vegetables.
Amy, Elijah and Lachlan have all enjoyed going for walks up to the multisport court and the new Anzac garden. They looked at all of the fruit that is blossoming on the growing trees in the Anzac garden. The students practised catching and throwing a ball with some assistance from Alanna and Rupak. Amy smiled and laughed when Alanna helped her to use the tennis racquet to hit the tennis ball to Rupak.
All of the students have enjoyed being creative and making some spooky Halloween craft to hang up in the classroom. They liked choosing different colours and textured materials to use in their artworks.
We look forward to enjoying a lot more learning and fun together this term.
Kind regards
Alanna
Welcome back to term 4.
Wow! What a crazy time it has been. Room 7 have come back to school with lots of energy, ready to conquer the school. We have enjoyed practicing walking around the school together as a class. Doing different activities to encourage turn taking and learning through play. We are excited for the weeks ahead and are happy to have our friends back at school.
