Hello everyone,
Staff development day fell on the first day of the term. Teachers and School Learning Support officers attended the Annual SEPLA conference in the city. The conference, tailored to special educators gives the opportunity for our staff to hear from several specialist presenters and exhibitors. Teachers and SLSO’s had the opportunity to network with other school staff and reported the experience was valuable.
Malibu Shades took the opportunity during the school holidays to replace the shade sails in the Seach Playground and Install a new shade structure over the water feature and decking next to the therapy suite. The new blue shade sails look amazing in their designated areas. We are still waiting for materials to become available for the new structures over the Aston and Crawford playground.
Education week Open Day is fast approaching, classes are excited to have parents visit classrooms on Wednesday August 2nd. Our Assistant Principal Curriculum and Instruction (APCI) is organizing a ‘workshop’ for parents after the open classroom event on the day. Hope to see everyone next week.
Although the weather is cold outside, our pool is a lovely warm environment to be teaching our students. I have enjoyed working with all students in swimming sessions over the past few months. I have seen students make improvements in their aquatic skills and seen students relax and enjoy the water. Its great we have our school P&C support with Wai – our Austswim instructor, guiding our aquatic program and supporting students and I am able to offer a relief from face to face (RFF) opportunity to our teachers.
Reminder: please label all Student belongings for swimming.

Welcome to Term 3 in Room 3.
All students have been excited to come back to school after the school holidays and have been working hard during the first two weeks.
We are reading a great book at the moment: Hattie and the Fox.
All students have been working collaboratively on a display of the animals in the book. Eli and Yeting have been listening carefully and engaging in working with the BigMack communicator to re-tell the story.

Within the healthy eating program, the students have been enjoying a variety of healthy snacks. Yeting has been eating her fruit independently and Eli loved eating the noodles he made during cooking with Michell.

Room 1 and 2 have been inviting us for cooking sessions and we joined them to make delicious corn fritters.

Eli and Yeting have also been making the most of the lovely weather and have had fun on Maxi’s playground going down the slide and even going down the slide head first.

Everyone is looking forward to an exciting term.
Room 3 students & staff
Welcome Back to Term 3!
Room 11 has had a lovely two weeks settling back into routine and we have enjoyed seeing all our friends again. We kicked off the term with some music lessons with our favourite music therapist where we practiced the piano, played with some ukuleles, and banged to our own beat on the drums.

We also worked on our letter recognition, sounds and practicing holding crayons and pencils to trace our letters of the week. Week one letter focus was F and this week our focus letter was L. We got creative with our letter recognition and made some beautiful art using F for FLAMINGO’s! All our friends loved gluing the pages and patting the pink crepe paper onto our letters.

This term Room 11 is going to have art every Thursday morning, and this week we got used to the art room again and used some tools to aid our paint sensory experience. Later in the term we will be making some special gifts and pictures to take home for our families to enjoy.

We are very excited for the term ahead and look forward to seeing as many parents as can come next week on Wednesday for our Education Week!
Cooking Adventures
In Room 11, we always look forward to our cooking lesson with Michell on a Wednesday morning. We have become quite confident cooks despite being the youngest class in the school. We love to learn about different cooking techniques and having a healthy lifestyle.
Harvey is an excellent 100’s and 1000’s sprinkler over the fairy bread. He picks the most delectable ones for us all to enjoy.
Lucas W knows how to spread butter over our toast to perfection.
Lucas T comes in with the syrup and makes the bread totally perfect.
Nakissa knows how to pour the milk into our batters so they turn out the best cakes.
Ali uses the mixer with ease to get the batter to the right consistency every time.
Ishan uses the wooden spoon like a professional to make our biscuits have the right amount of crunch and softness.
Matty knows how to roll the mixes so that our biscuits come out heavenly!
We love cooking in Room 11. Our food always tastes so good and Lou, Anamika and Michell love tasting our delicious treats!
Back to school and back to learning. Today I attended art therapy lessons with Room 8 to learn some new skills.
